A reflection on the Studio You 2024/2025 impact report and evaluation, and what this means for us as we look ahead.

Studio You has evolved. Still driven by our mission to help every girl find joy in PE, in the 2024-2025 academic year, we joined forces with Nike to level up our impact and reach more girls who are less engaged in physical activity.

The result? We reached roughly 722,000 girls across England, empowering them to feel more confident, included and excited about being active. And from launch to the writing of this blog, 70% of secondary schools in England have registered to use Studio You.

Nine in 10 teachers agree Studio You helps engage girls who have previously been resistant to PE, rising nearly 10% from last year. How do we know this? We measure Studio You’s impact annually to ensure we’re making a meaningful difference.

These numbers matter. Why? Because the gender activity gap still exists. Many girls still feel self-conscious about their ability (83%) and appearance (88%) when it comes to PE, which can lead to less enjoyment and lower participation. But, in 2025, 98% of girls said Studio You improves their overall experience of PE.

Teachers told us girls engage more with Studio You, and girls told us just how much Studio You positively impacts their experience. Specifically:

  • 96% of girls look forward to PE when Studio You is part of the lesson.
  • 91% feel more confident taking part in PE.
  • 94% of teachers say Studio You has helped them engage girls who were previously resistant to PE – rising from 85% the year before.

The impact stretches beyond the classroom. Girls describe feeling uplifted and energised after lessons, more motivated to move outside of PE, and more confident trying new types of activity.

Some girls even expressed a desire to continue the Studio You sessions at home, demonstrating that the programme is helping to foster positive relationships with physical activity that lay the foundations for a lifelong enjoyment of movement.

Since launching our Nike lesson content in May 2025, which was co-created with girls, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Girls tell us the lessons feel modern, exciting and “made for us,” while teachers note the Nike brand brings instant credibility and curiosity from students.

Girls who used the Nike lessons reported:

  • 100% agreement that the lessons helped them feel less stressed or anxious.
  • 97% agreed the Nike lessons help them feel more included in PE.
  • 95% of girls say the Nike lessons make them feel more comfortable taking part in PE.

Lessons like dance, yoga and fitness were crowd-pleasers. New disciplines such as mental fitness, breathwork and meditation were recognised for their benefits outside PE: supporting girls during busy or stressful times – especially for older students balancing exams.

Teachers also found the inclusion of disabled trainers, from Nike’s partner Disability Sport Coach as a valuable addition. They told us that demonstrating movements at different ability levels helped girls join in at a pace that felt right for them but also provided a role model for disabled and SEND students.

PE Teacher

A standout finding this year is how much girls value the co-creation process behind the content: 94% rated it important with nearly half rating it as “very important”.

Knowing the lessons were co-created by girls like them, boosted their sense of belonging and trust and made the content feel more fun, enjoyable and reflective of what today’s girls want. This reinforces what we know matters most to girls: relatability, authenticity, and a feeling of being listened to.

We’re proud of the difference Studio You is making – and even prouder of the girls who have embraced it. But we’re not done. Teachers are asking for more content, variety, and tools to use Studio You beyond PE lessons. Girls want even more say in how they move and what PE looks like.

Studio You will continue evolving, shaped by the voices of girls and the needs of teachers – because every girl deserves to feel like they belong in PE.
